The Levantine green frog (Pelophylax bedriagae), formerly belonged to the genus Rana as a subspecies of ridiculous Frog, is an anuran of the eastern Mediterranean (Greece, Cyprus) the coast of western Asia (Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Egypt) . Its color ranges from brown to green with dark spots on the sides. They are mainly aquatic, and females reach a large size. It has been introduced in some countries like Malta. At the beginning it was kept as a pet, but the 90s have been deliberately introduced in numerous places such as Gozo freshwater ponds. In these places it is a very prolific and invasive species.
