Description
The Marsabit clawed frog (Xenopus borealis) is a species of frog in the Pipidae family found in Kenya, Tanzania, and possibly Uganda. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, rivers, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, pastureland, and ponds.

Appearance
Marsabit clawed frog is a medium-sized, aquatic frog with a flattened, robust body covered in smooth, slimy skin. It is predominantly dark green, mottled with patches of yellow. The frog has fully webbed hind feet, perfectly adapted for swimming, and possess small, round tentacle-like structures behind its eyes, deemed essential for its mating rituals. Its appearance remains consistent throughout its lifespan, regardless of gender.
Behavior
Marsabit clawed frog is a nocturnal creature, exhibiting significant activity in hunting and feeding during nighttime. This amphibian has a largely solitary lifestyle but congregates during mating seasons. It displays territoriality toward intruders and marks territory with distinct vocal signals in their aquatic environment. In adapting to seasonal variations, marsabit clawed frog undergoes aestivation, a form of dormancy during extreme temperatures.
