Description
The Cape Fox (Vulpes chama) is the only true fox and the smallest canine in southern Africa. He is also known as Chama Fox, Kama Fox or Silverback Fox.

Appearance
Cape fox is a small to medium-sized canid with a slender body. It dons a dense pelage that is a blend of silver, grey and brown. Its most distinguishing features include a bushy tail tipped white, pointed ears, and a slight muzzle. Both sexes and all ages share this general appearance, with no significant differences in coloration or markings observed.
Behavior
Cape fox, primarily nocturnal, adopts solitary foraging behaviors, seeking a diverse diet that includes insects, rodents, birds, and fruits. This animal marks its territory through scent glands and urine. Primarily a 'hole-dweller,' cape fox utilizes existing burrows or constructs its own, exhibiting strong territoriality. Despite their solitary lifestyle, they occasionally demonstrate social interactions, especially during the breeding season.
