Description
Uroplatus fimbriatus (giant leaf-tailed gecko) is a gecko endemic to Madagascar. It is found in eastern Madagascar and on the islands Nosy Bohara and Nosy Mangabe. These geckos live in tropical rain forests. They reach a total length of 330Â mm.

Appearance
The common flat-tail gecko is a medium-sized reptile with a flat body and rough, bumpy skin, resembling tree bark. It possesses a remarkable leaf-like tail. This species has a variable coloration, generally brown or gray, allowing it to blend seamlessly with its environment. Its eyes are large, bulging and have vertical slits for pupils. No significant differences exist between genders and age groups within this species.
Behavior
Common flat-tail gecko has a nocturnal lifestyle, spending the day camouflaged in tree bark. It feeds on arthropods and has a unique hunting strategy of remaining immobile and pouncing on unsuspecting prey. Solitary by nature, common flat-tail gecko only interacts with others during breeding periods. It exhibits behavior like leaf mimicry for survival in its habitat.
