   Diet
Vietnamese crocodile newt subsists largely on invertebrates, with a dietary preference for arthropods. The species also eats small-scale livestock, indicating an opportunistic feeding style. It is critical to its survival in diverse and fluctuating habitats.
   Appearance
Vietnamese crocodile newt is a small, newt-like creature with rough, often granulated skin. Its primary color is dark brown to black, punctuated by bold orange to red markings on its rib projections and limbs. Vietnamese crocodile newt possesses a flattened head and a short tail, with ribbed skin on its back and sides. Some specimens exhibit a lighter underside, usually yellow to orange. There are no known differences in appearance based on age, gender, or subspecies.
   Behavior
Vietnamese crocodile newt exhibits predominantly nocturnal habits, retreating to aquatic habitats during daylight hours. This creature features a solitary nature, only gathering for the mating season. Remarkably, vietnamese crocodile newt dramatically changes its skin color as a survival tactic: its normally dark hues lighten to mirror the surrounding environment when threatened.
