Diet
Greater bamboo bat is essentially insectivorous, primarily feeding on small arthropods. Key fixtures in its diet include beetles and spiders, which it actively hunts during nocturnal outings, demonstrating its role as an effective insect predator.
Appearance
Greater bamboo bat is a small bat, roughly palm-sized. It has a delicate, bullet-shaped body covered in dense fluffy fur. The color varies from pale to dark brown, providing excellent camouflage in tree bark and caves. Notably, greater bamboo bat possesses large, specialized claws and pads on its wings, enabling it to grip bamboo and other smooth surfaces. Like D, markings or distinctive features related to age, gender, or subspecies are not readily observable.
Behavior
Greater bamboo bat is a nocturnal mammal that demonstrates a unique bamboo-dwelling behavior. This species forages within restricted areas, exclusively feasting on soft-bodied arthropods. Although typically solitary, greater bamboo bat shows cooperative behavior during offspring rearing. Its distinctive habit of living within hollow bamboo canes, a form of resource defense tantamount to territoriality, aids its survival in dense forest habitats.
