Description
Triprion petasatus is a species of frog in the family Hylidae found in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, moist savanna, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, rural gardens, heavily degraded former forests, aquaculture ponds, and canals and ditches.

Appearance
Yucatán casque-headed tree frog is a medium to large-sized frog with smooth skin and a stout, triangular body. Its dominant color is green, often with yellow or brown patches, and it bears a distinctive serrated crest running from behind each eye to its rear. No significant visual differences exist between genders or ages. Its distinctive feature is the broad, flat protuberance, like a sombrero, on its head, which is believed to direct rainwater to its mouth.
Behavior
Yucatán casque-headed tree frog is a diurnal species predominantly solitary except during the breeding season. Known for its distinct head-bobbing and leg-lifting behaviors during courtship, it also exhibits arboreal foraging habits. Territoriality is generally limited, but males may exhibit defensive posturing versus intruders in the breeding season.
