Trimeresurus malabaricus, commonly known as Malabar pit viper, rock viper or Malabar rock pit viper is a venomous pit viper species endemic to southwestern India. No subspecies are currently recognized.

Malabar pit viper is a carnivorous species predominately feeding on rodents. Its diet comprises mainly of small mammals, including rats and mice, and occasionally small birds.
Appearance
Malabar pit viper is a moderately sized venomous snake, with a length ranging from 30 to 100 cm. Its body is longitudinally slender and is covered with scales that have a predominant green color with black, white, or blue cross-bars. Females tend to be larger and have a more vibrant coloration. The species is distinguished by its pointed snout and the heat-sensitive pit between the eyes and nostrils.
Behavior
Malabar pit viper displays nocturnal, solitary behavior, primarily relying on its excellent camouflage for survival. The species is arboreal and exhibits a sit-and-wait predation strategy. Males show aggression during the mating season, engaging in 'ritual combat' for territory and access to females.
