Diet
White-lipped pit viper is predominantly carnivorous, specialized in feeding on small mammals, particularly rodents. Occasionally, its diet includes small birds. Due to its venomous nature, it immobilizes prey before consumption.
Appearance
White-lipped pit viper is a medium-sized venomous snake with a slender body, characterized by its rough, keeled scales. Primarily green, a distinct white or yellow lateral stripe runs the length of its body. Occasionally, it exhibits red or blue coloration. Males tend to be smaller and thinner than females. Its most notable feature is its heat-sensing pit organs located between the eye and nostril on either side of its head.
Behavior
White-lipped pit viper, also known as the White-lipped pit viper, is a primarily nocturnal species exhibiting ambush predation tactics, whereby it waits to strike prey from a stationary position. This solitary snake shows aggression when threatened by puffing its body and striking out. It navigates its arboreal environment skillfully, preferring the cover of foliage.
