Diet

Noronha skink primarily feeds on arthropods, with a significant preference for ants and beetles. These nutritious invertebrates have a vital role in fulfilling its high protein requirements, making noronha skink a dedicated insectivore.

Appearance

The noronha skink is a small, slender lizard. Its scaly skin is heavily strengthened and interspersed with remarkable irregular rosette patterns in striking hues of brown and dark green. This animal has a long tail and distinct eye ridges, while the large, round scales on its back and the smaller, smoother scales on its belly differentiate it. There are no prominent variations in visual appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies.

Behavior

Noronha skink is a solitary skink species showcasing crepuscular activity patterns. Notably adept at burrowing, it primarily seeks refuge under island-specific flora during inactive periods. Feeding primarily on ants and termites, it exhibits adaptive foraging strategies. No marked territorial behavior has been observed in this species.
