Description
Telmatobius peruvianus, also known as the Peru water frog, is a species of frog in the Telmatobiidae family. This semi-aquatic frog is endemic to Andean highlands in south-eastern Peru and far northern Chile where found in streams and small rivers. It is threatened by habitat loss, pollution, collection for human consumption and infection by chytrid fungi, and it has not been seen in Chile since 1986.

It has short limbs and webbed toes, which greatly aid in swimming.

They defend their terrain by producing underwater vocalizations, a unique behavior among their relatives. They exhibit nocturnal feeding behavior, primarily subsisting on diet comprising of invertebrates. Due to altitude variation in their natural habitat, seasonal migrations are observed for survival.
