Diet
The primary diet of common wall gecko typically encompasses insects and spiders. Known as generalist feeders, these geckos strategically ambush their prey, often demonstrating a particularly strong predilection for moths and beetles.
Appearance
Common wall gecko is a medium-sized gecko with a robust body and rough, grainy skin. Its color varies from gray to light brown and often has dark spots or a mottled pattern, which helps it blend with its surroundings. The gecko features a wedge-shaped head, large round eyes, prominent ear openings, and short, robust legs. It has a thick, tapering tail, which can regenerate if lost. There's no significant difference between male and female in appearances.
Behavior
Common wall gecko exhibits nocturnal, solitary behaviors, and adeptly climbs vertical surfaces using specially adapted toe pads. Its diet, structured around insects, involves excellent hunting techniques. Marking its territory with pheromones released from glands on its feet, common wall gecko has a notable display during conflict, where it arches its back and opens its mouth as intimidation.
