 The loggerhead musk turtle (Sternotherus minor) is a species of turtle in the family Kinosternidae. The species is native to the southern United States.

 Loggerhead musk turtle predominantly feeds on benthic invertebrates, with a primary preference for snails. In specific habitats, this creature may also ingest small amounts of plant material, providing a slightly varied diet. 
   Appearance
 Loggerhead musk turtle is a small aquatic turtle with a flattened, smooth, brownish-black carapace. Its belly or plastron is typically lighter. The animal displays distinctive yellow or olive streaking marks on its head and neck. As an adult, it can grow up to 13.5 cm in length. Males are often larger than females and possess a thicker and longer tail. Loggerhead musk turtle has a small head, short legs, and a non-extendable neck. 
   Behavior
 Loggerhead musk turtle displays a predominantly nocturnal lifestyle, employing its keen sensory adaptations for foraging, which mainly consists of mollusks and invertebrates. Generally solitary, this species establishes individual territories, spatiously defined mostly under aquatic environments. For survival, loggerhead musk turtle hinges on its camouflaging ability, blending with the muddy bottoms of slow-progressing bodies of water.
