Diet
Lesser sunda dark-throated skink is primarily insectivorous, feeding predominantly on terrestrial invertebrates. Its diet is rich in arthropods, particularly beetles and ants, supplemented by other small insects in its habitat.
Appearance
Lesser sunda dark-throated skink is a medium-sized skink with a streamlined, slinky body. Its scales are shiny and smooth in texture, primarily black or dark brown but transitioning to white on the underside. Notable is the pronounced black coloration on its throat, outlined by a distinctive white line. There's a conspicuous dark longitudinal stripe from the eye to the tail. Both genders have similar appearances and there are no notable variations between different ages or subspecies.
Behavior
Lesser sunda dark-throated skink tends to be introverted and solitary, primarily foraging for food alone. They are territorial, with males particularly demonstrative in guarding. Using camouflage to blend with their natural habitat, they've developed efficient behavioral adaptions for survival. Lesser sunda dark-throated skink's unique black-bearded appearance makes it easy to recognize.
