Description
Sphaerodactylus nigropunctatus, also known as the black-spotted least gecko or three-banded sphaero, is a species of lizard in the family Sphaerodactylidae. It is found in the Bahamas and Cuba.

Black-spotted least gecko mainly sustains itself on a diet comprised of various small invertebrates. Fascinatingly, it displays a strong preference for soft-bodied invertebrates, especially native arthropods and mollusks.
Appearance
Black-spotted least gecko is a small lizard, approximately 2 inches long, with a chubby, tapered body. It possesses scales that have a mottled brown and black coloration, punctuated by distinct black spots. Its underbelly is generally lighter. This creature, lacking any appendages such as wings or horns, has a round head, small beady eyes, and a short tail. Differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies are virtually non-existent in this species.
Behavior
Black-spotted least gecko showcases nocturnal behavior, where it actively hunts for its primarily insect-based diet. Known for its solitary nature, it only convenes with others during the mating seasons. An interesting trait of black-spotted least gecko is that it defensively curls its body and makes hissing sounds when threatened, enhancing its survival in its natural habitat.
