Description
Ambrosi's cave salamander, the French cave salamander, or the Spezia cave salamander (Speleomantes ambrosii) is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. Endemic to southeastern France and northwestern Italy, its natural habitats are temperate forests, rocky areas, caves, and subterranean habitats (other than caves). It is threatened by habitat loss.

Spezia cave salamander is a nocturnal, terrestrial cave dweller, found mostly in limestone areas. Its behavior includes climbing, using its adhesive toe pads for grip. Solitary by nature, it exhibits territorial behavior during the breeding season and tolerates cold conditions by retreating into deeper parts of the caves. Its diet consists mainly of small arthropods.
