Diet
Fowler's snouted tree frog is a primary insectivore, predominantly consuming small invertebrates. Regularly feeding on prey like spiders and beetles, it also engulfs flies, exhibiting a specialized predatory behavior.
Appearance
The fowler's snouted tree frog is a medium-sized frog with a smooth skin surface. Its dorsal side is mostly brown with unique dark crossbands, while its belly is cream-colored. A distinctive white streak runs from its eye to the groin. Males possess a large vocal sac, evident during mating calls, distinguishing them from the females. The fowler's snouted tree frog does not have any horns, wings, or a conventional tail, but it does have powerful hind legs for jumping.
Behavior
Fowler's snouted tree frog is an arboreal, nocturnal species with distinctive breeding behavior. During the wet season, males form large choruses to attract females. These calls, a social interaction to establish dominance and territorial boundaries, allow a single female to choose her mate among many. Fowler's snouted tree frog also has a unique parental care behaviour, where the male guards and moistens the eggs post-fertilization.
