Description

The lizard-flaky lizard of Lundell (Sceloporus lundelli) is a species of lizard that belongs to the Phrynosomatidae family, native to southeastern Mexico, northern Belize and northern Guatemala, with an altitude range between 0 and 300 meters above sea level.

Appearance
Lundell's spiny lizard is a small-bodied lizard with rough, spiny scales primarily in shades of brown, providing good camouflage. Adult specimens have a prominent dorsal crest, while the tail is long and ringed. Blue speckling may adorn the belly. There's little sexual dimorphism, although males might have more vibrant belly tones. Juveniles resemble adult forms but are smaller in size.
Behavior
Lundell's spiny lizard is largely solitary, engaging in diurnal activities, such as basking and foraging, primarily for small invertebrates. This species exhibits territorial behaviors, primarily male individuals, who engage in physical combat for territory and mates.
