 Southern spectacled salamander primarily feeds on small invertebrates, exhibiting an inclination towards soft-bodied prey like earthworms and slugs. Its diet also includes a variety of spiders and insects, particularly beetles. 
   Appearance
 Southern spectacled salamander is a small amphibian, typically measuring between 7-11 cm in length. It has a slender body, thin tail, and smooth, moist skin. Its basic color is black, but the dorsal surface is typically adorned with remarkable red spots forming two parallel lines. This species displays sexual dimorphism with females being slightly larger than males. 
   Behavior
 Southern spectacled salamander is primarily a nocturnal animal with a solitary lifestyle. These creatures exhibit distinct territoriality, demarcating their areas primarily through scent markings. During mating seasons, unique courtship behavior includes a pheromone-based attraction. Their survival behaviors comprise of blending into leaf litters in their forest floors habitat, effectively facilitating their evasion from predators.
