 The Mexican spotted wood turtle (Rhinoclemmys rubida) or Mexican spotted terrapin is a species of turtle in the family Geoemydidae.

 Mexican spotted wood turtle primarily sustains on a herbivorous diet, favoring leaves, flowers, fruits, and certain types of aquatic vegetation. It occasionally exhibits omnivorous tendencies, consuming insects and small invertebrates. 
   Appearance
 Mexican spotted wood turtle is a medium-sized turtle with a semi-rounded hard shell that's slightly domed. Its skin is rough and primarily brownish to coppery-orange with distinct darker spots scattered across the body. The beak is hooked with a distinct notch, and lower jaw conspicuously yellowish. Both males and females share the same notable markings and coloration, but males often exhibit a more vibrant color during mating periods. 
   Behavior
 Mexican spotted wood turtle is a primarily terrestrial and diurnal creature, engaging in activities such as foraging and basking during daylight. This species is generally solitary, each individual maintaining and defending a specific territory.
