   General Info
Lifespan
 20-30 years
   Diet
Brown wood turtle is predominantly herbivorous, with a diet centered primarily around various types of vegetation. This includes an array of leaves, fruits, and flowers, with a particular inclination towards the consumption of figs.
   Appearance
Brown wood turtle is a relatively small, robust turtle with a somewhat flattened, oval carapace. Its skin and carapace are predominantly brown, interspersed with paler, annular rings. Females are often larger and more colorful than males, with distinctive red marking on their plastron. Its strong legs and stout tail contribute to its semi-aquatic lifestyle.
   Behavior
Brown wood turtle is a primarily solitary species, not showing complex social dynamics. Most of its active time is spent foraging, prominently during dusk. Remarkably, it exhibits a unique protective response to threats, retracting its head and limbs into its carapace. It does not explicitly mark territories but may show mild aggression to same-species intruders.
