Rhaebo haematiticus (formerly Bufo haematiticus) is a species of toad in the family Bufonidae. It is found in eastern Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, northwestern Venezuela (SerranÃa del Perijá), and northwestern Ecuador. Its altitudinal range is from sea level to 1,300 m (4,300 ft) asl. Its natural habitats are primary tropical moist forest and submontane humid forest. Appearance
Leaf litter toad is a medium-sized toad, with its thick, bumpy skin adopting a robust, deep reddish-brown to black hue. Males are differentiated by their skin, which turns a vibrant red during the breeding season. Its domed back bursts into high contrast when its unique, yellow to cream dorsal stripe stretches from the nose to the vent, meeting at the hind legs. This stripe vanishes outside its breeding period.
