Diet
The diet of agile frog primarily comprises invertebrates, particularly insects. Predominantly a nocturnal feeder, it actively hunts for beetles, spiders, and worms, employing a quick 'sit-and-wait' tactic to ambush its prey.
Appearance
Agile frog is a medium-sized frog, with slender bodies and long legs. Its skin is smooth and moist, ranging from grey to brown, with unique dark spots scattered across its body. The hind legs feature horizontal bars. Males display bluish colours on their throats during the mating season, a distinction from females. Young agile frog are brighter in colour and have fewer spots.
Behavior
Agile frog is mainly nocturnal, displaying robust territorialism. Males vocalize fiercely to defend territories and secure preferred aquatic breeding sites. Remarkably, it uses camouflage for stealth while hunting and hiding from predators. They display a strategy of 'hit and run' while foraging, demonstrating precise attacks to prey swiftly and hide again.
