Diet
African bullfrog primarily subsists on a carnivorous diet, feeding predominantly on invertebrates such as insects, spiders, and scorpions. They're known to display opportunistic feeding behavior, occasionally preying on small vertebrates.
Appearance
African bullfrog is a robust, medium-sized frog with rough, warty skin. Its distinctive colouration includes a dark olive green to brown dorsum with a creamy coloured belly. A noticeable ridge runs from the eye to the eardrum, and its back legs are shorter with webbed toes. Male african bullfrog are generally larger than females, sporting a conspicuous yellow throat during breeding season.
Behavior
African bullfrog exhibits primarily solitary behavior traversing its habitation zone. Males become territorial during mating season, using loud vocalizations and displays of aggression to defend selected areas. Interestingly, the species responds to rain cues by initiating breeding behavior, which includes laying eggs in temporary rain-filled water bodies.
