 Description

The ball python (Python regius), also known as the royal python, is a python species found in sub-Saharan Africa. Like all other pythons, it is a non-venomous constrictor. This is the smallest of the African pythons and is popular in the pet trade, largely due to its small size and typically docile temperament. No subspecies are currently recognized. The name "ball python" refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened....

 Lifespan
 20-30 years
   Diet
Ball python primarily consumes small mammals, with rodents, like mice and rats, forming a substantial part of its diet. It engages in opportunistic feeding, adjusting its menu based on availability and size of potential prey.
   Appearance
Ball python is a medium-sized, non-venomous snake with a robust body, and smooth, shiny scales. They exhibit a base color that varies from brown to almost black, accented with irregular blotches of black and brown or gold. Unlike many snake species, ball python lacks notable differences in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies.
   Behavior
Ball python is a primarily nocturnal species leading solitary existence. It displays ambush predation techniques, staying inactive for long periods, awaiting prey's approach. Ball python is known to be docile, often curling into a ball when threatened. The species does not demonstrate significant territorial behaviors, and its primary survival technique includes burrowing in loose soil, effectively camouflaging in its natural habitat.
