   Diet
Indian python is an opportunistic predator, feeding primarily on small mammals and birds. Its dietary preference includes rodents, rabbits, and pigeons, relying on its powerful constricting ability to subdue and consume prey.
   Appearance
Indian python is a large, heavy-bodied snake with smooth, scaly skin. Its length ranges from 2 to 5 meters. The skin is mainly olive or brown, patterned with large, irregular, dark-edged blotches. The tail is thin and tapers to a point. Juvenile indian python are brighter and more contrastingly patterned. Both genders and all subspecies share these characteristics.
   Behavior
Indian python is a predominantly solitary species, employing nocturnal habits to aid in stealth during hunting. Armed with heat-sensitive pits for detecting prey, it employs ambush predation, often lying in wait for unsuspecting victims. Notably, indian python exhibits oviparous reproduction, with females protecting their eggs until hatching. Their retractable, curved teeth suggest an adept adaptation for retention of struggling prey. These reptiles generally do not express aggressive territorial behavior.
