Western brown snake subsists primarily on small mammals and reptiles. This species uses its highly potent venom to immobilize prey, displaying an appetite especially for rodents and lizards. Its feeding habits are mainly nocturnal.
Appearance
Western brown snake is a slim, medium-sized snake with smooth scales. Adults typically display a coloration ranging from gold to dark brown, often with lighter cross-bands. Juveniles may appear redder. Notably, western brown snake lacks any prominent features like wings or horns but has a forked tongue and sharp fangs. Its size, coloration and pattern remain fairly constant between sexes and through ages.
Behavior
