Appearance
Forskal sand snake is a slender, medium-sized snake with smooth scales. Males can reach 85 cm in length while females are often shorter. Its body displays a combination of sandy browns, grays, and black, with a clear black line running down its back, perfectly adapted for a sandy environment. The underneath is usually a paler color. Forskal sand snake displays diurnal behavior with considerable agility, dexterity, and speed. Typically solitary, it uses its vibrantly banded body for camouflage, evading predators and potentially intimidating smaller prey. This species is also known for its remarkable burrowing ability, using sandy soils for refuge against environmental extremes and predation.
