General Info
Lifespan
10-20 years
Diet
Primarily, habu is a carnivorous species that predominantly feeds on small mammals and birds. Exceptionally, this species shows a specific preference for rodents, employing venom to immobilize its prey before consumption.
Appearance
Habu is a large, slender serpent with smooth scales. Its primary coloration is striking: an array of vibrant green, interspersed with black and blue markings along the length of its body. The underbelly is a paler version of the surface color, and it also flaunts a prominent, sharp venomous fang. There is little variance in appearance between sexes or during different stages of the animal's life.
Behavior
Habu is a nocturnal, mostly solitary species that uses ambush techniques to prey on small mammals and birds. It is highly territorial and aggressive when threatened. Notably, it engages in an unusual behavior known as 'tail-vibrating', a presumed form of mimicry or distraction strategy for predators, contributing to its remarkable survival in various habitats.
