Diet
Boie's frog predominantly sustains on small invertebrates. Its diet chiefly includes insects like beetles, ants and spiders, capturing them through a sit-and-wait predatory strategy.
Appearance
Boie's frog is a relatively small toad with a robust, globular body and rough skin. Its upper parts are typically dark brown crossed with band-like, dull yellow marks. Notably, their eyes are large, protruding, and have a distinct horn-like structure above them, creating a peculiar visual effect. Equally prominent is the triangular, pointed snout. No significant discrepancies in appearance due to age, gender, or subspecies are observed.
Behavior
Boie's frog is a nocturnal, terrestrial species and predominantly solitary. It has unique antipredator behaviors such as a 'freeze' response to avoid detection, blending with leaf litter due to its camouflage. For reproduction, males exhibit vocal calling behavior to attract females.
