Diet
As an insectivorous species, western Tree Frog mainly feeds on a variety of invertebrates. It shows a preference for consuming small insects, like mosquitoes and other small arthropods, using its sticky tongue for prey capture.
Appearance
Western Tree Frog is a medium-sized frog with a relatively slender body. It sports a predominantly yellowish-brown color, often merged with black patterns on the dorsal side, and plain white or cream underbelly. This species is noticeable for its sharply tapering snout and longer hind limbs. Its skin texture is generally smooth, but males have a vocal sac near their throat that is prominent during croaking.
Behavior
Western Tree Frog exhibits a largely arboreal lifestyle, spending much of its time in trees. Being a nocturnal species, it is at its most active during nighttime hours. During breeding season, dominant males establish territories which they vigorously defend against rival males with vocalizations and physical displays. Western Tree Frog also has an exceptional adaptation, the ability to change its skin color for effective camouflage.
