Description
Male Polypedates macrotis grow to a snout–vent length of about 60 mm (2.4 in) and females to 85 mm (3.3 in). Tadpoles are up to 60 mm (2.4 in) in length. Dorsum is brown with a darker band behind the eye that covers the tympanum, tapering along the side. Polypedates macrotis is similar to Polypedates leucomystax but differs from it slightly in colouration and body proportions.

Bongao tree frog primarily feeds on small invertebrates. This carnivorous diet includes insects, such as beetles and moths, as well as spiders. An opportunistic feeder, it may also occasionally consume smaller amphibians.
Appearance
Bongao tree frog is a medium-sized tree frog, notable for its smooth skin and protruding snout. Predominantly, the frog is brownish-grey with novelty-shaped darker markings on its back and pale undersides. Male frogs are generally smaller and slimmer than the females. A distinctive feature of this species is the presence of a longitudinal skin fold from the eye to the side of the body, giving it a unique appearance.
Behavior
Bongao tree frog is a nocturnal species primarily about arboreal habits. This species is generally solitary, although it congregates near water bodies during breeding season. Bongao tree frog exhibits unique whistling calls for attracting its mates. Its survival tactics include exceptional camouflage in its green habitat and a quick escape skill to avoid predators.
