Description
Pogona vitticeps, the central (or inland) bearded dragon, is a species of agamid lizard occurring in a wide range of arid to semiarid regions of Australia. This species is very popularly kept as a pet and exhibited in zoos.

The diet of central bearded dragon is primarily composed of various insects, appreciating a particular affinity for crickets and mealworms. It also consumes leafy greens and fruits, with occasional small rodents, depicting an omnivorous dietary habit.
Appearance
Central bearded dragon are generally medium-sized, with a broad, flat body and a tail roughly as long as its body. Their scaly skin is coarse, with a primary coloration of light tan to dark brown. A series of dark, squarish patterns stretch along the side of their body. Some adults show hints of red, orange, or yellow, especially around the head. Males have larger heads and darker beards than females.
Behavior
Central bearded dragon is known for its distinctive basking behavior, frequently seen basking under a light source as in its native arid habitats. This solitary species is not notably territorial but may exhibit threat displays when agitated. Central bearded dragon also has a unique head bobbing behavior contingent on social and environmental circumstances.
