Description
The eastern bearded dragon (Pogona barbata) is an agamid lizard found in wooded parts of Australia. It is one of a group of species known commonly as bearded dragons. Other common names for this species include Jew lizard and frilly lizard, the latter being a confusion between this and another dragon, the frill-necked lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii). This species was originally described in 1829 by Georges Cuvier, who named it Amphibolurus barbatus.

Diet
Eastern bearded dragon manifests omnivorous eating habits with a preference for green leafy vegetables. It frequently consumes insects, small mammals, and occasionally fruits. The diet heavily consists of crickets, mealworms, and beetles.
Appearance
Eastern bearded dragon is a medium-sized lizard with a flat, broad body and a spiky 'beard' projecting from the underside of its throat. Its rough, scaly skin varies from dark grey to brown. It has a triangular-shaped head, and a long tail, usually around 1.5 times its body length. Females are slightly smaller and less vibrantly colored than males.
Behavior
Eastern bearded dragon is a largely solitary and territorial reptile, marking its space by head-bobbing, arm-waving, and mouth-gaping displays. This species is diurnal, spending its day foraging for food and basking under the sun. Interestingly, for thermoregulation, eastern bearded dragon changes its body color, becoming darker in cooler temperatures, and lighter in warmer conditions.
