The savanna side-necked turtle (Podocnemis vogli ), also commonly known as the Llanos side-necked turtle, is a species of turtle in the family Podocnemididae. The species is endemic to South America.

The diet of the llanos sideneck turtle is mainly herbivorous, significantly focussed on consuming diverse aquatic vegetation. Appearance
Llanos sideneck turtle is a medium-sized turtle with a carapace length of up to 18 inches. It has a flat, streamlined body with a dull-gray to brownish-black shell. Its skin is generally dark and rough, with a substantial pair of jaws. The older adults often develop lighter flecks on their carapace and plastron. Males are generally smaller than females and have a longer, straighter tail, while the females' are short and curved.
Behavior
Llanos sideneck turtle is a primarily aquatic, sedentary turtle species with diurnal tendencies. It forages on a diet of insects and aquatic vegetation, showing unique feeding behavior of catching prey in water. It nests individually, burying eggs along riverbanks. Adaptations for underwater living and hiding from predators include camouflage shell coloring and limited, slow movement.
