Description
Podarcis vaucheri, the Andalusian wall lizard, is a species of lizard in the family Lacertidae. The species is endemic to northern Africa and southern Spain.

Andalusian wall lizard is an insectivorous species, primarily feeding on various arthropods. It exhibits a preference for smaller insects like beetles and spiders, but also consumes worms and snails when available.
Appearance
Andalusian wall lizard is a small, slender-bodied lizard with scaly skin. Males possess a greenish-grey dorsal surface with scattered dark spots, while females are generally brown with contrasting light spots. Both sexes have a notable yellow belly. Juveniles mirror the coloration of females but lack the vibrancy seen in adults. The tail, often longer than the body itself, is marked with alternating dark and light bands.
Behavior
Andalusian wall lizard is predominately a solitary species with diurnal tendencies. This reptile spends daytime hours basking, foraging, and patrolling its territory. Notably, it uses visual and chemical cues for conspecific recognition, and manifests aggressive behavior in territorial disputes. Its primary survival behavior includes adept climbing and swift retreating under rocks upon threat detection.
