Description
Pleurodema cinereum is a species of frog in the Leptodactylidae family. It is found in the Andes in northwestern Argentina, Bolivia, and southeastern Peru. Its common name is Juliaca four-eyed frog, after its type locality, Juliaca. Pleurodema borellii is possibly a junior synonym of this species.

Juliaca four-eyed frog is predominantly insectivorous, feasting mainly on small insects. It exhibits the behavior of lying in ambush for prey, snatching beetles, ants, and spiders within its striking radius.
Appearance
Juliaca four-eyed frog is a small-sized frog with a rough, warty skin. The body contours are rounded and it possesses robust hind limbs. A general gray coloration dominates its skin, often with irregular darker marks. Notable are two large glands forming prominent ovoid masses behind its eyes. No significant differences exist between genders or various life stages in terms of physical appearance.
Behavior
Juliaca four-eyed frog exhibits nocturnal behavior, predominantly feeding at night. Known for its distinctive defensive posture involving inflation of its body, it exhibits noticeable territoriality in mating season. Intriguingly, it tends to be solitary except during breeding, when males opportunistically form large aggregations around fecund females.
