   Appearance
Gilbert's skink is a medium-sized skink with a streamlined body, smooth, shiny scales, and a robust tail. Its coloration features a base of dark brown to black, often adorned with thin white or light brown stripes running lengthwise from the snout to the tail. The juveniles are typically brighter with a noticeable blue tail. This vibrant color fades as the skink matures.
