It is found in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and possibly Swaziland, Uganda, and Zambia.  The dietary habits of east african puddle frog mainly involve feeding on invertebrates, predominantly insects. It specifically favors ants, beetles and termites, executing a critical pest-control role in its ecosystem. 
   Appearance
 East african puddle frog is a petite, compact frog with a singular smooth skin texture. Displaying a variable colour palette, it can range from green, through brown, to the less common pink. Distinguished by its mottled darker brown patterns and a characteristic light vertebral line, many specimens also possess a golden sheen on their back. Predominantly more robust, males are distinguished by a whitish throat during mating season. 
   Behavior
 East african puddle frog is characterized by its nocturnal, solitary lifestyle. This amphibian has an unusual call display, using variants of chirps and buzzing sounds, predominantly during mating season. It also demonstrates an impressive resilience to harsh environmental conditions, displaying a period of torpor in extreme temperatures, contributing to its survival technique.
