Description
Phelsuma quadriocellata is a species of gecko known by the common name peacock day gecko. It is endemic to Madagascar, where it is a common to abundant, widespread reptile.

Peacock day gecko thrives predominantly on a diet composed of insects, particularly flies and moths. These geckos also show preference for sweet foods, often consuming nectar and ripe fruits.
Appearance
Peacock day gecko is a vibrantly colored gecko with a slender, elongated body neighboring 10cm in length. Its skin is predominantly bright green, adorned with circular blue spots encircled by a ring of reddish brown. The underside is a lighter yellow-green. Tail and limbs are slender, with specialized pads for climbing. Young and females have a more subdued coloration, while males exhibit more prominent red eye rings. No significant differences are noted among subspecies.
Behavior
Peacock day gecko is a daytime-active species that exhibits a solitary lifestyle. Its existence is primarily arboreal, indicating a strong adaptation to tree-dwelling. The species shows territorial behavior, defending its habitat vigorously. Exceptionally, it performs complex courtship behaviors before mating, including color changes and head-bobbing. It is also notable for its method of body-cleaning via licking.
