Description
The blue-tailed day gecko (Phelsuma cepediana Merrem, 1820) is a diurnal species of gecko, which is endemic to the island Mauritius. It typically inhabits warm and humid places and dwells on different trees and bushes.

Bluetail day gecko primarily indulges in a diet comprising of insects and other small invertebrates. It has an affinity for moths and spiders, often foraging in the twilight hours. The species exhibits an adaptive penchant for nectar and ripe fruit during periods of lesser prey abundance.
Appearance
Bluetail day gecko is a slender, medium-sized gecko with smooth, vibrant skin. It is characteristically green in colour, often sporting blue spots and a red tail. While adult individuals are brightly coloured, juveniles are more discreetly colored in a shade of brown. The gecko does not have any horns or wings, but its flexible, adhesive toes are an interesting feature.
Behavior
Bluetail day gecko exhibit a diurnal and arboreal lifestyle, mostly found in tree canopies foraging for insects and nectar. They are territorial, especially the males, who often aggressively guard their habitat. This species, being solitary, only interacts during mating season. Known for their vivid color, they use it as a camouflage mechanism for survival.
