Diet
Yellow-footed rock-wallaby predominantly feeds on grasses, favoring native variations. With the seasonal cycle, it varies its diet to include leaves, fruits, and seeds, demonstrating opportunistic foraging behavior.
Appearance
Yellow-footed rock-wallaby is a medium-sized marsupial with a well-adapted, rock-hopping body shape. It boasts a dense fur coat, predominantly grey-brown, with darker stripes running from its head to the base of its long, bushy tail. Remarkably, its underparts are noticeably pale and its feet bear specialized, roughened soles ideal for leaping on rocks. No significant differences exist between genders and age groups visually.
Behavior
Yellow-footed rock-wallaby is a nocturnal and agile jumper, adept at navigating rocky terrain in search of foliage and fruits. Notably, it uses scent marking to communicate and assert territorial dominance. It displays unique social dynamics, forming small, often female-led, family groups. In typical environmental conditions, yellow-footed rock-wallaby can go without water for long durations, relying on its food for hydration.
