Diet
Serrated hinged terrapin or Serrated Hinged Terrapin are omnivorous in nature. Their diet predominantly consists of insects, crustaceans, worms, and mollusks. They also consume vegetation, incorporating aquatic plants and algae.
Appearance
Serrated hinged terrapin is a medium-sized turtle with a broadly oval, slightly domed carapace, and moderately large head. Its skin and carapace typically exhibit a plain dark olive-green color, while the plastron is slightly paler with random spots. Serrated hinged terrapin has powerful limbs adapted for swimming and digging. There is no drastic difference in appearance due to gender; however, males have slightly longer tails.
Behavior
Renowned for their distinctive shell shape and survival tactics, serrated hinged terrapin exhibits solitary nocturnal behavior, spending daylight hours concealed under vegetation or mud. As a semi-aquatic species, it demonstrates exceptional swimming and diving abilities for foraging. Adaption to ephemeral water bodies prompts serrated hinged terrapin to often migrate in search of favorable conditions.
