Description
The coarse, thick fur of the spotted musk has a gray basic color. They have black stripes on the back and black, longitudinal stripes on the shoulders and sides. The feet, ears and snout are also colored black, the face has a black and white, raccoon-like mask drawing. The epithet hermaphroditus in the scientific name of the spotted musk comes from the testicular-like scent glands, which both sexes have below the tail. Spotted musangs reach a head trunk length of 48 to 59 centimeters, the solid black tail is 44 to 54 centimeters long. Their weight is around 2.5 to 4 kilograms.
