  Pachydactylus capensis, also known as Cape gecko or Cape thick-toed gecko, is a species of lizard in the family Gekkonidae. It is found in southern Africa.

Predominantly brown in color, its body exhibits dark spots and bands, providing a cryptic camouflage against rocky habitats. This variation has no significant differences in physical features between genders or through life stages. 
   Behavior
 Cape thick-toed gecko is primarily nocturnal, surfacing post dusk to forage for small invertebrates. This species, known for its agility on rocky terrains, utilizes complex body rotation and limb repositioning to navigate. Generally solitary, cape thick-toed gecko comes together for mating, demonstrating aggressive territorial behavior. Remarkably, tail autotomy serves as its primary defense mechanism.
