General Info
Lifespan
15-20 years
Diet
Brown greater galago primarily feeds on fruits, making it largely frugivorous. However, they also seek out insects, small vertebrates, and occasionally edible gums, diversifying their nutritional intake.
Appearance
The brown greater galago is a medium-sized primate, with a robust body that is covered in dense, wooly fur. Typically, the fur's primary coloration is grey-brown, with a marked contrasting lighter underbelly. A striking feature is its long and bushy tail, which is nearly twice as long as the body. There are slight differences in males and females, with males being slightly larger in size. Despite these dissimilarities, both genders share the thick eye-rings that give them a distinctive appearance.
Behavior
Brown greater galago is a nocturnal creature, active predominantly after sunset and before sunrise, noted for its arboreal lifestyle. It employs complex vocalizations for social communication, and forms cohesive groups of 2-12 individuals. Primarily frugivorous, brown greater galago also consumes insects and almonds opportunistically. It is non-territorial, sharing food sources and home ranges with other groups.
