Description
Buckley's slender-legged tree frog (Osteocephalus buckleyi) is a species of frog in the family Hylidae. It is found along the periphery of the Amazon Basin in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, northeastern Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana, and also in the Orinoco Delta in Venezuela. It is probably a species complex. Some sources treat Osteocephalus vilmae from Ecuador and Peru as a valid species.

Buckley's spiny-backed frog predominantly consumes small arthropods, indexing a preference for tiny beetles and termites. It is also accustomed to foraging among leaf litter for ants, supplementing nutritional intake.
Appearance
Buckley's spiny-backed frog are medium-sized amphibians with a slender body, smooth skin and elongated legs. They exhibit a wide range of skin colors, with shades varying from light to darker brown, often with black blotches. Their most distinctive feature is their horizontally oval, amber eyes which are bordering on white. There's a lack of significant differences in appearance between the sexes and various stages of their life cycle.
Behavior
Buckley's spiny-backed frog exhibits nocturnal, arboreal behaviors, primarily residing in trees near water bodies. Known to gather en masse during mating season, the species displays remarkable synchronicity to form a chorus, yet outside these periods, it remains largely solitary. Buckley's spiny-backed frog defends its territory through distinctive vocalizations and also demonstrates proficient swimming abilities for surviving in its aquatic surroundings.
