Description
The common puddle frog, puddle frog, or yellow bellied puddle frog (Occidozyga laevis) is a species of frog in the Dicroglossidae family. It has often been confused with Occidozyga sumatrana (which until 1998 was considered to be a junior synonym O. laevis), and records of this species outside the Philippines likely represent that species.

Diet
Yellow bellied puddle frog exemplifies a carnivorous diet rich in small invertebrates, predominantly ants and termites. It specializes in ambushing its prey, exploiting hydrostatic pressure to maximize feeding efficiency.
Appearance
Yellow bellied puddle frog is a small semi-aquatic frog with webbed feet, a broad, flat body and smooth, glossy skin. Their predominantly dark-green coloration subtly transitions to fawn white on the belly. Noteworthy is their eyes, partially divided by a horizontal bar. Both genders and all ages share this uniform appearance.
Behavior
Yellow bellied puddle frog is a primarily terrestrial species that displays marked nocturnal habits, spending most of the daytime concealed under leaf litter or within crevices. It exhibits solitary behavior with males being territorial, defending their spaces using vocalizations. It feeds largely on small invertebrates. Though it is a proficient swimmer, yellow bellied puddle frog prefers damp conditions but not constant immersion.
