   Diet
Malayan flat-shelled turtle is predominantly herbivorous with a pronounced preference for aquatic vegetation. While it also feeds on mollusks and insects, its diet largely consists of aquatic plants and algae, supplemented by fruits and leaves from terrestrial plants.
   Appearance
Malayan flat-shelled turtle is a medium-sized turtle with a flat, wide carapace displaying smooth-textured, olive green to black shell. The belly shell, or plastron, is usually lighter, ranging from yellow to cream. The head is triangular and distinctly narrow, with the skin on its body mottled or striped in color. No significant differences are found between genders, age groups or subspecies.
   Behavior
Malayan flat-shelled turtle is mostly nocturnal, foraging primarily at night for food, which includes mollusks and vegetation. Solitary by nature, malayan flat-shelled turtle displays a unique habit of using its snout to upturn rocks and debris in search of food. Survival in its natural freshwater habitat is aided by its dull coloration that acts as effective camouflage against potential predators.
