Diet
Desert trilling frog predominantly consumes a carnivorous diet consisting mainly of small insects. Its preference leans towards arthropods and annelids, which it actively seeks and catches using its tongue.
Appearance
Desert trilling frog is a medium-sized toad with a smooth skin texture and a slightly flattened body shape. It generally displays an overall coloration of brown to grey, effectively camouflaging itself within its environment. Its face is characterized by large, round eyes and it lacks any horns or wings. No distinct differences in appearance exist due to age, gender, or subspecies.
Behavior
Desert trilling frog is a nocturnal and solitary species, primarily terrestrial but also adept at swimming. This uniqueness allows it to prey on various insects in or near water bodies. During dry conditions, desert trilling frog burrows into the ground and enters a state of aestivation until favorable conditions return. Males often vocalize to attract females during the breeding season.
